Documentary Short
How our lives are shaped by the homes we grow up in. To what extent are we defined by the homes into which we were born? Our first living space, though we have no say as to what or where it may be, may cast a shadow over the rest of our lives. For better or worse, it can form a key part of our identity, affecting how others see us and how we see ourselves. In this short documentary we meet six individuals, each from a different generation and background.
As we hear their stories, presented against the backdrop of their first homes, we gain a sense of what it was like growing up in these places and discover the impact they have had on the lives of their inhabitants. From an island fisherwoman to the heir to a castle; from an artist who grew up above a small-town pub to an emigrant who was abandoned as an infant, this film spans the length and breadth of the country, exploring disparate experiences of growing up in Ireland.
